Braden's Special book

I have already posted about this book once but I am always surprised how much Braden loves this book. It is filled with pictures from the Ensign. Pictures of Jesus, Prophets, people praying, missionaries, people studying the scriptures, people receiving blessings ect... He uses it in sacrament on Sunday and then often during the week. He looks at it with out me encouraging it. He just loves it.

Halloween activity

I did not have my camera when Braden made this with his friends but it is such a cute idea. You dip there hand in paint (have baby wipes on hand) and then let them decorate their "ghost".

Prayer F.H.E. (Enos)

If it is in bold that is what you put on the board for the week. All the rest of stuff you just talk about.
Read Enos 1:1-8

  1. What did Enos do before he prayed. 1:3   PONDERED
  2. How was his body language when he prayed? 1:4    HE KNEELED DOWN
  3. How did he pray? 1:8 HE PRAYED WITH FAITH
This is a great pattern for us to use.
First, we need to think about what we are praying for. If we are praying as a family it helps to first talk about who needs our prayers. It gives the children an opportunity to recognize a need and pray for it.
Next, kneeling down is not always necessary, but teach them how kneeling is a sign of reverence.
Lastly, When we pray we need to remember that God wants to help us. The answer is not always YES but we need to pray with FAITH that God loves us and will do whats best for us.

Seth and Braden's good bye tradition

I finally got my camera out in time to catch this beautiful tradition of a father and his son.

When Seth leaves in the morning Braden runs to the window and puts his finger up to it and waits for seth to come down the stairs and and connect with his finger.
After laughing they usually switch the finger for the whole hand.
What touches me most is I know how much of a hurry Seth is to get to class in the morning, but he never acts like it. He takes the time to spend these few minutes together with Braden. Braden loves it. He often comes running from across the house to get to the window when he hears the door close behind Seth:) It makes me smile every time.

DEPENDS ON YOU AND ME!!

Depends on You and Me!
 BY: My Loving Father

We have too good a thing,
To let it go!
There's NO country like ours,
That we know!

We've just got to keep
Our country free!
Nobody knows what freedom means
To YOU and ME!

Don't stand idly by then,
There's so many things to do!
What a prized constitution,
Our Founding Fathers knew!

There's nothing like the present,
We must get out and vote!
Become aware of issues,
For others take a note!

Money doesn't grow on trees,
And freedom isn't free!
The future of our country,
Depends on YOU and ME!

Some say redistribute wealth,
And give it to the poor.
Russia tried and watched their freedom,
Go right out the door.

Abortion is a murderous sin,
Some folks still approve!
Why kill a baby, just so your life,
Will be more smooth?

Marriage is only natural,
Between a woman and a man!
So, why distort our way of life,
Just because you can?

Freedom at the airport,
Has been taken to extreme!
Our security is important,
But balance can't be seen!

Presidential use of power,
Isn't going away;
Especially when they misuse the system,
Just to get their way!

Lavish bail out spending,
And putting the rest in hiding,
Plunges the nation into massive debt,
Our children's future binding.

Eliminating borders,
To get an extra vote,
We'll watch our nations sovereignty,
Go up in smoke!

Appointing highly paid Czars,
Wasn't right!
Without congressional approval,
WE MUST STAND UP AND FIGHT!

Reducing Military,
While wars rage,
Is a ticket to disaster,
In any age!

Our Health Care is the best,
In any nation.
But can be ruined,
By sloppy legislation!

We could keep the list going,
Of all the freedom losses!
But let's get to work, fast, and pray,
And become our own bosses!

Let's run the race,
And win the prize!
Protecting our free institutions,
Is most wise!

We are a Christian nation,
No matter what some say,
And we will have HIS blessings,
If we keep the Sabbath Day!!

Captain Moroni FHE

For those that follow my blog this is our second HERO in our "Come to know your Heros" set.
Captain Moroni!!!!!!
In the text below just remember that if it is in bold it goes on the board. Every thing else is just talked about.
Lesson One:
In ALMA 48:17 It sais, "YEA VERILY,VERILY I SAY UNTO YOU, IF ALL MEN HAD BEEN, AND WERE, AND EVER WOULD BE, LIKE UNTO MORONI, BEHOLD, THE VERY POWERS OF HELL WOULD HAVE BEEN SHAKEN FOREVER; YEA, THE DEVIL WOULD NEVER HAVE POWER OVER THE HEARTS OF THE CHILDREN ON MEN."

So what is it that made him so great and how can we strive to be like him.

ALMA 48:11-13

  • HE WAS "A MAN WHOSE SOUL DID JOY IN THE LIBERTY AND THE FREEDOM OF HIS COUNTRY"...
  • ..."YEA A MAN WHOSE HEART DID SWELL WITH THANKSGIVING TO HIS GOD"...
  • ..."A MAN WHO DID LABOR EXCEEDINGLY FOR THE WELFARE AND SAFETY OF HIS PEOPLE"...
  • "YEA AND HE WAS A MAN WHO WAS FIRM IN THE FAITH OF CHRIST"...
Discuss what all three of these mean and how we can be more like Captain Moroni.

For the Brother of Jared go here

A little snack:)

My husband and I have some cilantro and basil growing in our window sill. We love fresh herbs!! This is one of our favorite snacks with our Fresh and Wonderful Basil.

You take bagel crisps cut a cherry tomato in half and place on top and put mozzarella cheese on them. Thats it. I love them!!!!

If you are vegan or cutting back on dairy product put hummus on it instead of cheese. In the picture there is one with a little basil leaf and that is the one we put hummus on. It was also fantastic.

Messy day/ cleaning

This week we did "messy day" by ourselves. We started out just playing in the sink with bubbles and then I decided to do the dishes, which he was not opposed to helping with. :)

Getting so Big!!

"Boo" someone

Braden and I made these little ghosts together to take to our friends and leave on their door. It sais, "Boo, someone is thinking about you"

Spending time together

 Never too busy to cuddle.
Playing Uno---Actually we were practicing our colores.
Braden and Seth have this tradition that when Seth leaves for school he meets Braden at the window to say good bye. I did not get the camera in time to catch their cute moment together but got Braden still watching his dad as long as he can:)

Seth loves the few minutes he gets in between his classes to spend with his sons.

Tanner--Five months old

He loves his tag blanket that his Aunt Kim made him.

He loves to be on the floor or right in the middle of everything. He is super social.
He has the most contagious laugh. He loves to smile.
He is getting up on his knees and rocking. He has even gone as far as putting one hand forward but then he falls:) He will be crawling in no time.
He is super super super active. Watch out when you hold him cause he practically jumps out of your arms. There is no slowing this kid down. He is excited to be on earth and is wasting NO time:)
We love and adore him so much!!!!

Another "Messy Day" with friends

Once a week we like to invite a friend over and have a "Messy Day"
This week was flour mixed with baby oil which makes "magic sand"
Instead of them building with it constructively they decided to throw it around:)
I cant blame them... It was a ton of fun!!!
Good thing it was easy to clean up:)

We love October

We went to Carter Orchard and let the kids play:)

Thoughts on health

I am not in the best shape by any stretch of the imagination. Yet after having a 21 month old and a 5 month I feel like Im in the best shape of my life. WHY? Because of the way I eat.

I was once told,
If you want to tone your legs, run.
If you want to tone your arms, lift.
If you want to loose your stomach, eat right.

Lately I have been sharing with some of my friends a few things I do, so I thought I would share with you all...

For starters PRAYER is a key component for mastering anything. I pray often to know how to keep myself and my family healthy. I often receive thoughts and ideas that I know are answers to my prayer.

For breakfast EVERY morning (unless I run out ) My husband and I eat what I call my Power Breakfast.( posted here). It is full of seeds and good things. My personal opinion is seeds are very beneficial to our health and most people do not get enough. It also has a great protein base since it is made with Quinoa.

A few hours later I have a green drink. This includes LOTS of spinach  (another powerful food) and usually oatmeal and fruit. (I use to put protein in it but I am trying to have my protein come more from plants and grains:)

So that starts my day out right. Neither meal is sugar filled or carb heavy so I don't crash as easily.

For when I am out and about and feeling like my blood sugar is going down (you know the feeling when you get super tired) I carry cliff bars around with me.

For lunch and dinner I have no system I just try and make good decisions. I personally try and avoid lots of Wheat because I have an allergy to it but that does not mean I avoid carbs. Actually the opposite. I love grains. They are super good for you. I like to combine my grains and make "super foods" out of everything:)

Stay tuned and I will be posting more great recipes:)
Oh ya... Drink lots of water!!!!!!!!!!!!!
